Roger worked in law enforcement for almost 30 years before becoming a member of Goleta City Council in 2006. He is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He received his second H. Thomas Guerry Award for successfully negotiating the 21-hour Joseph Segura hostage siege in 1994 .
Aceves served as El Presidente for Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara in 2001, and was appointed by former Governor Gray Davis to the 19th Agricultural District which runs Earl Warren Showgrounds. He served as President of the Board for four terms and has also been active in many non-profit organizations boards including the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation.
Roger Aceves has been married to his wife Debby for over 42 years.
